Ondo Finance has rolled out proxy voting capabilities for holders of its tokenized equities and ETFs, a development that brings blockchain-based securities closer to the functionality of traditional brokerage accounts. The platform, which hosts more than $700 million in tokenized stocks and ETFs, partnered with Broadridge Financial Solutions to enable investors to review company filings and submit voting preferences through the ProxyVote system.
Market Context
Tokenized equities have emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors in cryptocurrency, representing a bridge between traditional finance and blockchain rails. The category has tripled in size over the past year, now holding more than $1.1 billion in value locked across platforms, according to RWA.xyz data. Ondo currently stands as the largest issuer in this segment, with its Global Markets platform serving non-U.S. investors seeking exposure to tokenized versions of stocks and ETFs.
Analysis
The addition of proxy voting addresses a significant gap that has long plagued tokenized securities: the lack of basic corporate governance rights. While Ondo's tokens remain legally separate from underlying shares and do not confer direct shareholder status, the new system allows investor preferences to be expressed through Ondo when the company votes its held shares. This creates an indirect but functional governance pathway for token holders.
"It really hits at the heart of Ondo's vision to make traditional financial assets more accessible," said Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, in an interview with CoinDesk. "You get all the benefits of being onchain – freely transferable, compatible with DeFi – and on top of that, you get the governance that you have from the underlying."
Broadridge's involvement brings established infrastructure from traditional markets into the blockchain ecosystem. The firm processes substantial proxy vote volumes in conventional finance and is now extending its workflows to support digital assets alongside conventional securities.
"Giving investors the same level of auditability, transparency and compliance will really go a long way in making the tokenized world more scalable, giving that level of trust to end investors," said Danielle Gurrieri, senior vice president and head of product management at Broadridge.

What to Watch
Traders should monitor whether this governance functionality attracts additional institutional capital into Ondo's platform, potentially expanding its $700 million tokenized assets under management. The integration with Broadridge sets a precedent for how traditional financial infrastructure can support blockchain-based securities, and other issuers in the RWA space may follow suit. Regulatory developments around tokenized securities classification and investor eligibility requirements could also impact growth trajectories for this sector.
